95516776 New Years Eve in Maryland

Grab a New Year’s kiss at one of Maryland’s many events to usher in 2011. I’ve complied a quick list of what’s happening around Maryland…

Of course, you’ve got the Inner Harbor Fireworks. It has taken over 4 months to plan and 4 days this week to put together, but at the stroke of midnight, Curtis Bay will explode with vibrant colors. Baltimore officials usually expect between 40,000 to 50,000 people for the celebrations, but they say with the warm weather forecasted for tonight, the crowds should be bigger.

In Havre de Grace, the city by the bay celebrates itsĀ heritage as the Decoy Capital of the World. At midnight, a lit decoy will drop from atop a fire truckĀ  at the Havre de Grace Middle School. The Duck Drop will be accompanied by fireworks, which can be seen from all points in the City.

A Northeast Baltimore neighborhood takes the New Years celebrations into their own hands with the annual Ball Fall. Over 100 people in the Arcadia section of the city to watch a large ball drop 40 feet. The chicken wire constructed ball is wrapped with Christmas lights. Ball Fall watchers can see the Inner Harbor Fireworks in the distance also.

At the beach, you can still check out the holiday lights at the Winterfest of Lights display, sit inside a heated tent, head to the gift shop and more! Also, many bars and restaurants will open just for the New Year’s and offer special packages too. Bus rides will be free from 6am New Year’s Eve Day until 6am New Year’s Day.

There are also plenty of great events for the whole family in Baltimore. Check them out here.
