American Idol Is Back

Here we go.  So far the response to the “new look” American Idol season 10 has been pretty good.  It wasn’t the usual train wreck that we are used to for the opening weeks, but it held my interest.  We break it all down and you can hear what our listeners said about the new season of Idol.

So the new American Idol Crew of Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson started their journey together in New Jersey.  My son, Adam, didn’t really want to watch the show.  Once he realized they were in Jersey (he can’t stand New Jersey and the whole ‘Jersey Shore’ thing) he said, “For ever orange person I see…you owe me a dollar!”

The show started out great with amazing singers.  Then, the pour singers started showing up.  J-Lo had a tough time saying no.  It’s like she wanted to get sick everytime a singer wasn’t good enough for Hollywood.

The interaction of the judges was pretty good.  I like the new crew.  But, I wonder if they are too nice.  One contestant auditioned during season 6.  She made it to the Hollywood round, but was cut the first day.  She returned last night to sing.  She’s basically an opera singer.  They let her through.  I was screaming at the TV…she’s not a pop star…she’s not a pop star.  Simon would not have approved of this girl getting a golden ticket.

Overall, a good start for the Idol.  My wife teared up twice with some of the stories of the contestants.  So, I know she liked the show.  They had a lot to live up too and held my interest.  So, I give the show an A- for the first night.
