Charles Theatre

The Charles Theatre is unique in that it is the only theatre in Baltimore offering first-run specialty films in addition to Hollywood movies, foreign films…

…and cinema classics. The 108 year-old building started out as a cable car barn and in 1939 became Baltimore’s first all-newsreel movie house named the Times Theatre. It was renamed the Charles around 1959. In 1999 it expanded from a one screen to a five screen theatre and has a cool, spacious lobby.  All this week The Nite Lite Photo of the Day is featuring scenes from Baltimore‘s Charles Street.
