Today, 50 Years Ago, Something Serious Happened To Ocean City

What happened?  And because of this event, it derailed plans to develop Assateague Island and created….a temporary inlet at 71st Street. It was a big nor’easter called the Ash Wednesday Storm.  It caused lots of damage up and the down the East Coast on this day March 6, 1962.

Tonight, hundreds are gathering at the Ocean City Convention Center to remember the storm that almost washed Ocean City away.
