I have a BIG confession to make. I did NOT want to go to the Mistletoe Meltdown concert Friday. Want to know why?

I was nervous about getting on stage and introducing the bands. I was excited about the concert but freaked out about having to get on stage, which is weird because I am an actress and LOVE being on stage.

That being said, there is a big difference between being on stage as a character in a play and being on stage as myself. I felt sick to my stomach all week knowing that the concert was approaching and the station needed me to be there. Part of the reason is because I am overweight and I am insecure about that but the other part is because I wasn’t sure how to get the crowd pumped up about the concert. Well, I certainly didn’t have to worry about getting the crowd excited because they were already pumped! And the show did not disappoint…it was a blast.

Now, back to the on-stage part. I was fine once I got on stage. I didn’t feel nervous at all. It also helped that Greg Carpenter was there along with the MIX morning show and we are all friends. I realized, ONCE AGAIN, that I LOVE being on stage no matter what the circumstances (being in a play or being me). My 12-year-old son, Jack and I had an AMAZING evening hanging out back stage and yes, being on stage. I hope I can remember this experience the next time I get nervous about something and feel like backing out because I am scared.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his inaugural address, “There is nothing to fear but fear itself.”

So the next time you are afraid to do something, stretch beyond your comfort zone and DO IT! You’ll be glad you did.
