Are We Responsible For What Kids Do This Summer

We were talking on the morning show today about summer and our kids.

Camps are filling up and Mary Anne was stressing about how she hasn’t signed jack up yet.  She, then, felt stress that she feels she has to fill every waking hour this summer with some form of entertainment for Jack.  It’s funny how times have changed.  A lot of parents feel just like Mary Anne does.

Remember when we were kids?  We’d be out on our own all day.  I remember my parents setting boundaries around the neighborhood and saying ‘just make sure you’re home by 5:30 for dinner.’  We’d do everything from ride bikes to play baseball and climb trees to flashlight tag at night.  We played a ton of wiffle ball and four square, too.  We lived at Kiwanis Swim Club and Campus Cabana.

I’d be very nervous to let my kids wander today.  So…where are those camp forms?!!?
