Another gem I experienced while vacationing in Portsmouth NH, Strawberry Banke. It opened for vistors in 1965. So why do people visit Strawberry Banke? Also see my photo gallery here…

In 1623, English explorers chose this cove as a place to harbor their vessels. They were so impressed by the wild strawberries that grew along its banks, they called their new home Strawbery Banke. One of America’s earliest cities was born. Today you can tour the village and see how life was. It reminded me of a mini Williamsburg, great living history in downtown Portsmouth!
