If you were thinking Mumford & Sons‘ declaration that new album Wilder Mind would be all electric and completely banjo-less was an early April Fools’ joke, it’s probably time to let go of that notion with new single “The Wolf.”
Today (April 9), the band revealed “Wolf,” the newest taste of their new album out next month. Like “Believe” before it, the song finds the British rockers trading acoustic for electric, adding a drum kit where a single bass drum once stood.
“You were all I ever longed for,” frontman Marcus Mumford sings before the band breaks into a fast-paced bridge typified by pulsing bass and quickfire drums. It lacks the usual slow-building sound of many of Mumford’s previous songs, opting instead for a fairly focused attack from the start.
