The majority of American homes are now landline free.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that by the second half of 2016 fewer than 50% of homes even had a landline. The AP reports one reason could be to avoid telemarketers. Still, almost 40% of households have both a landline and at least one cell phone because it’s 2017.

To nobody’s surprise millennials age 25 to 34 are leading the pack when it comes to cell phone only homes.

And those 65 and up aren’t exactly ready to let the landline go.
