Your kitchen might be getting you sick!

Studies from the Journal of Food Protection and the Food Protection Trends say these are the filthiest places in your kitchen:

Your fridge: 97% of home store raw meat and poultry improperly. Keep it on the lowest shelf with ready-to-eat foods to avoid contamination. Temperature should be kept at 40 degrees fahrenheit or below.

Your dishcloths and sponges: the germiest things in your kitchen. Wash your hand towels often and microwave or put your sponges in the dishwasher to kill bacteria. Fecal bacteria is likely to stay in and around your sink.

Cutting boards: They could also be storing bacteria in cracks.

Pets: The presence of animals in the kitchen can increase food contamination.
