Hey moms, put down your cell phone!
According to a study published in the journal Child Development half of parents admit their tech addiction interrupted parent child time three or more times a day 24% reported twice a day and 17% reported once a day.
It’s called technoference – a term used by the study’s author – and it’s when parents check their emails during playtime and activities with their kids.
The author of the study which surveyed 170 two parent households – said kids feel the same way an adult would feel if they were being ignored, which isn’t good. And since their kids – they express themselves in the form of tantrums, this could be a chicken and egg situation as the study didn’t look at the cause and effect – meaning parents could up their tech time when their kids misbehave.
Still, being ignored isn’t fun and the study’s author suggests parents to pay more attention to their screen time.
