Raising kids is hard. It’s not only expensive but there are many other factors that need to be taken into consideration to ensure the child’s well being.

The Annie E. Casey Foundation studied 2015 data from the Population Reference Bureau to rank the best and worst states for raising kids. Let’s start with the good first.

The top five states were Iowa in fifth place, Minnesota in fourth, Vermont in third, Massachusetts in second and New Hampshire at the top of the list.

The worst states are Arizona in 46th, Nevada in 47th, Louisiana in 48th, New México in 49th and Mississippi at the bottom of the list for the second year in a row.

Some surprises from the report show that both high school dropout rates and teen birth rates lowered from 2010 estimates.
