We enjoyed the sunflower field in Jarrettsville on Saturday! It really brightened up a rather cloudy day. My hubby and I have been going to the sunflower fields around Harford County for a lot of years. There is something about a field of sunflowers that makes me happy. Some facts and info if you plan on visiting soon. According to their Facebook:

The 2018 sunflowers were planted on August 1, 2018.
There are many types of sunflowers – the seeds that were planted in this field are Black Oil Sunflower seeds.
The particular variety does not follow the movement of the sun across the sky from east to west. Some other varieties may does this and this process is known as heliotropism.
The sunflower field in Jarrettsville is approximately 20 acres.
The sunflowers are planted at 30,000 seeds per acre.
Therefore, there are approximately 600,000 sunflower heads in this field!!
When the sunflower heads dry out (in approximately 2 months), the seeds will be harvested and sold for birdseed.

Park at the field, 3767 Norrisville Road, Jarrettsville, MD 21084. Do not park on the street or in parking lots of local businesses to go to the sunflowers.
Admission: The cost is $5 per car to get in, where people can walk the fields. Cut sunflowers, baked goods and beverages will be for sale as well. The money raised by admission goes to Norrisville United Methodist Church, St. Paul's United Methodist Church and other community organizations for mission work.
