Officials report that she left behind a note, they did not disclose any details regarding its contents.

Spade started her company, Kate Spade New York, with her husband in 1993. The brand now has over 140 stores in the U.S. and 175 stores internationally.  Spade moved on from the company in 2007, one year after it was purchased by the Neiman Marcus Group.
