Salsa recipe

Excellent eats in my kitchen this week – Tom’s homemade salsa. My husband Tom created this recipe years ago and its become a family favorite, especially at parties and while watching sporting events. He’s been making this salsa for years. It’s very simple to make and can easily be made year round. This salsa is extremely addictive. In fact, he’s asked to make this more than any recipe. Let’s make Salsa!  Enjoy.

(1) 28oz can of whole tomatoes (I use Italian) /  1 medium to large onion diced / 1 habanero pepper finely chopped / 3 cloves garlic(minced) / 1/3 bunch of cilantro chopped / Maryland seasoning to taste (I like Wye River) /  1/2 - 1 teaspoon cumin / olive oil

Pour a little olive oil in a saucepan and sauté onion, garlic, and habanero until almost soft. Add can of whole tomatoes, Maryland seasoning, and cumin. Mash down and stir with a potato masher. Keep mashing and stirring till it just begins to boil. Turn down heat and stir for 30 seconds and remove from heat. Stir in chopped cilantro and cover. This salsa is excellent served warm or cold with your favorite tortilla chips.
